E-Greeting Cards

Probably not the most critical set of links on this site, but why not? We all use them from time to time, and we ought to know where to get 'em. Most of these sites provide cards for specific occasions, and include cards with music, animation, and other goodies. Note: Many of these sites now require you to sign up for membership, and some of them require a paid membership.

The Sophos antivirus site warns about a widespread e-mail which invites users to pick up an "E-Card" from a Web site called either FriendGreetings.com or Cool-Downloads.com. If users click on the link in the e-mail, they are invited to install an application onto their computers which includes a license agreement "to send a similar greeting card to all addresses found in the user's Outlook address book." In a separate advisory to PC Magazine, SpyCop warns that a new hybrid form of spy software Email PI is out; this new spy software allows "remote installation" by e-mail, via an e-card greeting card. Email PI is a commercial product. A FAQ from Email PI's Web site says such greeting card schemes are above-ground strategies: "Email PI can be sent to any e-mail address in the form of a greeting card in order to spy on anyone." Be warned.
